A couple weeks in…

Only a couple people are home right now, so wifi is pretty good. 😜 Life on TCI is enjoyable, but it is more so because we are here helping the friends. The CO for Haitian-Creol is assigned to the island for a few months to help with disaster relief, and he is going to the English congregation. He said to one of the brothers that just us being here has started to energize the hall. That’s nice to hear.

We’ve done a few more roofs and drywall projects and have much more to do. There are a lot of children being raised in the truth here and they are usually the ones who send us little papers with a drawing or some sweet note thanking us for fixing there grandma or parent’s roof. We are starting to mesh as a group and just as two of the guys are leaving. Oh well, one will be back in a few weeks and the other we will keep in touch with.

We had some excitement lately. Not to go into details,  but we were robbed while we were sleeping the other night. We left one of our doors unlocked. However only one brother’s wallet and iPad were stolen and, unbeknownst to him, a new one is on the way from all of us. We got so comfortable here that we forgot this is still satan’s world. So we are focusing on the friends, while booby-trapping our doors now. Figures with a bunch of constructions guys.

Here are some bunks we use to sleep. Mine is in the room behind, top bunk against the wall.

There are lots of wild animals on the island that people just feed. Cats, dogs, chickens.

Here is the Kingdom Hall on Provodenciales, TCI. There is English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creol congregations that meet here.

Here is the backseat of the group I was out with last Sunday.

Here was an amazing little storm system that went through the other day. These last few weeks have been some of the rainy”est” weather. Even the locals have said it doesn’t usually rain this much.

Sometimes it can be hard to work when this is the view from the jobsite.

That’s all for now. Love you guys!

The Turkey is in Turks and Caicos

I did actually survive the plane trip. So welcome to my blog for the trip! I am happy to be able to share this with you all, and wifi is a little tricky so posts won’t be that regular. The last leg of the ride from Miami to Provodenciales was very pretty! I had a whole row of three to myself and a window to look out at all the Caribbean islands we flew by. T&C (Turks and Caicos) is very pretty, and people say it hardly rains, but it has been raining every day this week here. Making roofing a little hard, which is what the majority of the relief work is here. It also includes drywall and clean up of the properties. they said 72 friends’ homes were damaged during the storm and two and half have been repaired out of those 72. So much work is ahead. We have had some interesting experiences already, little kids coming to see the “white guys” and saying “hello Americans!”. And people commenting how nice it is we come and help and that their pastor just takes their money and doesn’t do anything. For now I’ll put some pics from the flight and one of life bunking with the bros here. Include more when wifi is better. I Gotta keep you guys coming back for more. 😜
